Craft a book with a page for each letter of the alphabet. This project can keep you and your child busy for days to come, if you work on one page each day.
Supplies
- 8.5 x 11-inch sheets of heavy paper or poster board
- Construction paper or cardstock or craft foam
- Old magazines or catalogs
- Yarn or heavy twine
- Scissors
- Glue or paste
- Hole puncher
Directions
- Assemble all of your supplies. The list above is just a guide. Use your imagination and creativity, and make it appropriate for your child’s age.
- Draw and cut out an “A” that is at least 4 or 5 inches high from construction paper, cardstock, or craft foam.
- Glue the “A” to the center of a piece of 8.5” x 11” paper or poster board.
- Then, have your child look through old magazines and catalogs for things that start with the letter A. Help him or her cut out the pictures and glue them to the page around the letter.
- Repeat for each letter of the alphabet.
- Then, have your child make a front and back “cover” for the book, which can be decorated in any manner desired. (Make sure you have your child’s name on the cover as the “author”!)
- Once you have all 26 letter pages done, punch 2 or 3 holes in the left side of each page and tie them together with yarn or twine to make a book.
